Kingman Turquoise Necklace - Ancestral Tribal Style

Item# KHML
DETAILS: 28" necklace with graduated 12 - 28 mm Kingman Turquoise "Chiclet" beads and 5 mm Philippine Olive Heishi. Chiclet beads are somewhat square and flat and very desirable for making this ancient style necklace. The ancestors used to wear necklaces just like this without the Sterling Silver. They would tie around their neck using a string. Today, during the festivities and dances at the pueblo, the women still wear traditional necklaces like this with a tie-on closure. This tradition will carry forward in the next generations. Today, we have eye-pleasing (not to mention convenient) Sterling Silver necklace cones and hook and eye closure. This necklace is quite stunning when worn together with a second similar necklace of a bit shorter length. (There is a bead on this necklace that looks just like a bird to me)
